About ASU’s Adcock Field:

Appalachian State University field hockey’s new facility has officially been named Brandon and Erica M. Adcock Field at Appalachian Field Hockey Stadium.

The Adcocks are responsible for the lead gift for the stadium’s field. Both Brandon and Erica are Appalachian State alumni. Erica was a three time all-conference selection as a member of Appalachian’s field hockey program from 2003-06.

Brandon is the co-founder of Direct Digital LLC, the developer and marketer of many leading wellness and nutritional supplements. In 2013, the Adcocks received the Alumni Association’s Young Alumni Award for their exceptional service to the university and accomplishments in their careers.

The new field is located on the site of the former Appalachian Soccer Stadium at Appalachian’s State Farm Fields Complex. The field hockey-specific facility includes a water-based Tufted-Astroturf playing surface that deposits 400 gallons of water per minute and will have the field at an optimum play level in 10 minutes.

The stadium has seating for 450 spectators and a new scoreboard. Long range plans for the stadium will include the installation of lights, construction of locker rooms, a concession/souvenir stand, press box and permanent restrooms.

More on Schellenberger Field from

At the heart of Lynchburg College’s athletic facilities is the majestic Shellenberger Field. Named in honor of the founding men’s soccer coach, Bill Shellenberger, this beautiful, newly resurfaced in 2016, field is home to Lynchburg men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and field hockey teams. The facility features a large, new artificial turf field, a state-of-the-art eight-lane track, and a spectator capacity of 3,000. Shellenberger Field is a formidable venue for visiting teams, with chair and bleacher seating on one side of the field and residence halls on the other, where student crowds gather to cheer on their Hornets, along with “packing the track” to gain even more of an advantage. Since 2006, the field has been home to 25 ODAC Championships, 28 NCAA Appearences, 2 National Championship Runner-Ups, and 1 National Championship.

The track was named after former athletic director and legendary track and field and cross country coach Dr. Jack M. Toms in 2010. The Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams call this home and most recently hosted the 2016 ODAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Between both teams, there have been 5 ODAC Championships since the track was built in 2010.

More information on the Christian Academy of Louisville’s

The Christian Academy of Louisville will be holding a groundbreaking ceremony today, May 18th at 3:30 PM, to kickoff installation of a new, state-of-the-art athletic field from AstroTurf®. The new playing surface at Centurion Stadium will be a cutting edge synthetic turf field that combines a sophisticated fiber system with a unique alternative infill. This innovative new AstroTurf Golden Series DT field will be the first of its kind in the state of Kentucky.

The initial conception for this type of system was initially presented by Los Angeles Rec and Parks Department, and has since gained rapid ground across the state of California and is spreading to the rest of the country. What makes the AstroTurf Golden Series DT product so distinctive is that it synthesizes several different advanced artificial turf technologies into one cohesive system. It begins from the bottom up with a specialized Brock pad for maximum shock attenuation and stability. The artificial turf itself is a combination of high density slit film fibers for durability, and a specialized version of AstroTurf’s patented RootZone® system, which bolsters the turf for improved structural integrity. The turf system is incredibly difficult to manufacture correctly, as it is four times denser than most products on the market. The final piece is the infill, which is made up of sand and a unique product called ZeoFill, an organic mineral used in health food supplements and water filtration systems. ZeoFill absorbs (but does not require) water, and it slowly releases the water to create an evaporative cooling effect. All of these elements combine to deliver an exceptional playing surface engineered for high usage and consistent performance, all while eliminating the use of rubber.

As the Christian Academy of Louisville began looking into an artificial turf field for Centurion Stadium, they were focused on demonstrating a commitment to excellence and player safety, as well as environmental sensitivity. The administration and athletic staff soon became interested in nontraditional systems without crumb rubber infill. After conducting extensive research, the school was interested in the AstroTurf Golden Series DT product. AstroTurf sent the CAL committee to Jesuit High School in the California to see just such a field, one that had been installed prior to the 2015 fall football season.

“The Golden Series DT field is a revolutionary product. Seeing it in person on our trip to California made a great impression on us all. This field will provide our students and visitors a high performing, safe surface for years to come,” said Athletic Director Brad Morgan.

“The groundbreaking is exciting for all of us who have been a part of this process,” said Steve French, Director of Facilities. “We think this new AstroTurf field is going to be an excellent surface for our students for years to come.”

Sports Construction Management, a Certified AstroTurf Partner, will install the new synthetic turf field. Their team will also be in charge of the literal groundbreaking as they handle excavation, site work and installation of the stone drainage base. The new surface that will replace the previous grass field will be lined for football, lacrosse and field hockey.

SCM’s New Field Hockey Field @ Wake Forest Underway!

SCM has completed the synthetic turf surface removal at Wake Forest University’s Kenner Stadium and base work is underway in preparation for the installation of the new Astroturf System 90 field surface on their new field hockey field.

Winston-SalemNC, March 21, 2016– AstroTurf®, originators of the synthetic turf industry, will be resurfacing the field hockey pitch at Wake Forest University this spring.   The state-of-the-art synthetic turf field from AstroTurf will ensure an optimal playing surface when Wake Forest Field Hockey hosts both the ACC / Big Ten Challenge and the ACC Championship in 2016.

The new pitch at Kentner Stadium will be the AstroTurf 90 product, which combines the traditional knitted nylon top cloth with a 3/8th inch Armacell pad. AstroTurf fields have long been regarded as the unequivocal standard for field hockey performance and are the favorite among coaches and players alike for their playability, durability and low maintenance requirements. The knitted nylon surface is unique to AstroTurf and preferred because it provides tight tolerances, non-directional play and a uniform surface. It’s no wonder AstroTurf is recognized as the Official Artificial Surface Provider of both USA Field Hockey and the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

“On behalf of the Wake Forest Athletic Department, Field Hockey is proud to announce AstroTurf as the official turf supplier of our world class facility at Kentner Stadium,” said Jennifer Averill, Head Field Hockey Coach. “AstroTurf continues to be recognized as a leader in our sport for playability. Hosting both the ACC / Big Ten Challenge and ACC Championship is a distinguished way to showcase our new state of the art facility and those who maintain it.”

Coach Averill will be heading into her 25th season at the helm for the Demon Deacons. Inducted into the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2010, Averill has led Wake Forest to three national championships, five conference championships, and fifteen NCAA Tournament appearances.

Installation of the new pitch is slated for spring and will be a joint project of Sports Construction Management and AstroTurf. The new surface will replace an AstroTurf field that was installed in 2004 and lasted well beyond the industry standard of eight years.
