Sports Construction Management, sports turf contractors from North Carolina recently began laying the new artificial turf at Gowans Stadium.
Construction crews have created a new base and drainage system under the new AstroTurf. The turf is pieced together in five-yard increments and glued together with a hot glue tape called AstroGrip. The field will be completed in the next week to 10 days.
The cost to replace the new turf is about $687,415 according to Hutchinson Community College President Carter File. The old artificial turf was installed in 2004 and lasted 11 season.
