Sports Construction Management, Inc. has been selected to build the new Kentucky Country Day School (KCD) synthetic turf Field hockey & Lacrosse Field.
Dear KCD Community
It was just two years ago that we cut the ribbon on a new theater and fine arts center that now provides a fabulous home for our award-winning fine arts program. Today, I am excited to tell you about yet another initiative that was unanimously approved by the Board of Trustees on Tuesday night. Thanks to the hard work of some and the generous financial support of long-term KCD boosters, this summer we will install a new, fully-funded, state-of-the-art artificial turf field for our field hockey and lacrosse teams.
The field will consist of AstroTurf Game Day Grass 3DX, turf that has been installed at major universities around the country, including Duke, Stanford, Wake Forest, Penn State, USC, Texas A&M, Oregon State and Ohio State, to name a few. The field will contain a special thatch layer that greatly reduces the amount of infill splash during play and will be coated with AstroFlect, a special technology that reduces surface temperature when compared to typical synthetic turf fields.
The high quality and central location of the new turf field (adjacent to the current Bermuda grass field, in front of the Parsley Pavilion) is consistent with the long-term strategic plan of our athletic department. With its unique design to reduce splash and surface temperature, the new field will be superior to others in town. In addition, we believe that we will have an expanded opportunity to host tournaments, jamborees, club events and rentals, thereby creating additional exposure for KCD and its students.
I am thrilled about this opportunity to provide our students with yet another first-class facility. My deepest thanks to those who made this possible! Construction will begin on the new field this summer and will be completed in time for the fall athletic season. I look forward to seeing you then as we cheer on the Bearcats on our new AstroTurf field. Until then, enjoy the final two weeks of school and have a great summer!
